Diagonal House
The house is located in a residential area about 1 hour by train from the city center.
The permitted building site coverage is severe and 60% of the site had to be left as external space, even though three sides of the site are bordered by roads. A diagonal line was drawn on this square site plan to divide it into residence and terrace areas.
The diagonal is the longest straight line on site and using this as the interface between the areas makes the most effective use of the space.
The terrace is surrounded by sliding walls and can be opened to the city.
Independent walls and eaves consisting of about 50 louver blocks were combined to keep out summer and western sun.

The shelves on the stairs and in the bedroom are planned for the collection of CDs and books as "showable storage" and extend to the ceiling.
